- 1 John 5:1,4-5) Whosoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is BORN OF GOD....AND whatsoever is born of God overcomes the world; and THIS IS THE VICTORY THAT OVERCOMES THE WORLD, even OUR FAITH....vs 5) Who is he that OVERCOMES THE WORLD....It is he that believes that Jesus is the Son of God.......John 20:30-31) And many other signs Jesus did in the presence of His followers, which are not written in this book. vs 31) But these are written for this reason, that you would be convinced to believe that Jesus is the TRUE CHRIST, THE SON OF GOD......John 1:10-12) Jesus was in the world, and the world was made by Him, but the world knew Him not. vs 11) Jesus came to His own (The Jews), but His own rejected Him and received Him not. vs 12) BUT TO AS MANY AS RECEIVED HIM, TO THEM GOD GAVE THE RIGHT AND THE POWER TO BE THE SONS OF GOD, EVEN TO THEM THAT BELIEVE ON HIS NAME....Romans 10:11,13) For the scriptures say that whosoever believes on Him shall not be ashamed. 13) For whosoever shall call upon the Name of the Lord (In Faith) shall be saved.....The thief on the cross next to Jesus was a WHOSOEVER, and so was the other man on the other side of Jesus. Both had the same opportunity. Both were sinful, sin filled condemned men dying in their trespasses and sins like all the world is (John 8:19-24). Neither one had any possible way or hope in saving themselves from death, or from the grave, or from hell. They both were helpless. They both were without strength. Nonetheless as Jesus taught all are invited. These two were both INVITED freely by the grace and love of God. Jesus taught that the grace and mercy of God is for WHOSOEVER as the scriptures reveal Romans 10:9-13 and Matthew 22:1-14 and John 3:16-17)...... These two thieves both had the same beginning as all the world born in trespasses and sins as so is all. But their ending sure was forever different. Lets look into this difference.....And the wise penitent thief on the Cross said to Jesus, Lord, will you remember me (EVEN A MAN LIKE ME. A CONDEMNED GUILTY SINFUL MAN) when you come into your kingdom ????.....Lets look and see how Jesus answered and handled this helpless thief....Jesus said back to him. Truly I say to you, Today you will be with me in paradise. Did you notice that Jesus did not start talking to the thief about all his life's many awful terrible sins?????? If such was of legal necessity to do so by LAW for this man to be saved then Jesus most certainly would have went there with the thief in order to fulfill all requirements and all righteousness (Matthew 3:13-15). BUT HE DID NOT......JESUS RESPONDED TO THE THIEF ON THE BASIS OF JUSTIFICATION BY FAITH AND NOT BY WORKS..... Ephesians 2:8-10) For by Gods love and grace you have been saved thru faith and that not of your self. It is THE GIFT OF GOD..ROMANS 5:1) Therefore BEING JUSTIFIED BY FAITH WE HAVE PEACE WITH GOD ..Romans 3:19-28). THIS WAS CERTAINLY WORDS OF TRUTH IN THE THIEF"S LIFE. The thief called upon the Name of the Lord in faith and the Lord did not disappoint the thief. Jesus Himself Justified him....Just as the Lord promised, all that call upon His name shall not be ashamed or disappointed.........The other thief on the other side of Jesus had the same invite and opportunity. But all he did was gripe and complain his way into hell instead of receiving the free gift of God in Christ... He was so close but yet so far away. Satan blinded him as he does the world. His spirit/soul was lost forevere......But what a merciful and faithful Savior and High Priest we have in Jesus the Christ, the Son of God. If we with a penitent heart, repent and call upon His Name, the power of His Cross and Blood will prosper and prevail on our souls behalf and we WILL OVERCOME SATAN AND THE WORLD AS THE THIEF THAT GOT SAVED DID.....Such Good News.......deno......please share freely.
